The county grid
This is where the evidence tiers matter most.
Seen in official footage (names confirmed, roles inferred):
- Vice-Dale County has the strongest case - a county sheriff/police seal reading "Vice-Dale County" appears during the in-game Mega Noticias newscast in Trailer 2, and county-road signage recurs in official footage. Miami-Dade to "Vice-Dale" is an obvious pun.
- Kelly County - the name is read off street/road signage in official footage.
- Leonard County - the name appears on a police vehicle in an in-game fictional social-media post shown by Rockstar.
Because these turned up in official material, the names are confirmed as shown; the boundaries and administrative roles are reported inference.

The mapping is deliberately imperfect: real Monroe County is the Keys and Everglades, which fits Mariana well, but Kelly is a composite (its Panama-City-style Port Gellhorn is Panhandle geography, not southwest Florida). Rockstar compresses and rotates real geography rather than copying it.
Rumor tier. The name "Mariana County" leans mostly on datamined road signage rather than a clean trailer sighting, and the exact county count and every border come from community map projects. Reliable as a pattern - the equivalent GTA V fan map proved very accurate - but not canon.
Map size: no official number exists
This is the most-repeated false "fact" in the fandom, so it is worth stating plainly.
Confirmed: Rockstar's only claim is a positioning statement - Leonida is "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet." That is marketing, not a measurement. Rockstar has published no square-kilometre figure, no square-mileage and no explicit "X times GTA V" number.
Reported estimates (label them as estimates): the widely cited community reconstruction is around 125 km2 of landmass, roughly 2 to 2.5 times the size of GTA V (which is about 48-49 km2). Estimates across projects range from about 100 to 150 km2. They come from trailer analysis, pre-order screenshot triangulation and datamined map coordinates fed into community mapping tools - the same method that made the GTA V fan map accurate, but still an estimate. Is Vice City the whole GTA 6 map?+
No. Vice City is one region within the State of Leonida - the urban Miami analogue - surrounded by island keys, swamp, Gulf coast, farmland and a northern national park. Leonida is the full map; Vice City is its main city.
How big is the GTA 6 map?+
Rockstar has not released any official size figure - only the claim that it is the "biggest" GTA yet. Community reconstructions estimate roughly 125 km2, about 2 to 2.5 times GTA V, but that is an estimate from trailer and datamine analysis, not an official number.

Is Leonida a real place?+
No. Leonida is a fictional US state that stands in for modern-day Florida. Its geography borrows heavily from real Florida - Miami, the Keys, the Everglades, the Panhandle and the Okeechobee sugar belt - but the names and layout are invented.
What is Gloriana in GTA 6?+
Gloriana is a rumored second state - a Georgia analogue - based on license plates and road signs spotted in Trailer 2. Rockstar has not confirmed it, so it is unclear whether it is just a border reference or a possible future expansion area.
